WebJun 20, 2010 · I tried practicing the tony pena and bob sands knots this winter, but was too retarted to get it right. I have been tying the 15 turn albright knot with a 3 turn uni to finish it off for years (since 1995). I use 50 and 65 lb power pro to 20-50 lb flouro or mono and can tie the albright quickly and it has always held for me so far at least. WebMay 20, 2024 · I still do this on my 20-40 pound set ups. I generally use a "Bob Sands" knot to attach my mono to the braid. It hasn't been that long since we went from long top-shots to short ones. I suggest you also learn some good knot. There are several out there and they all work, just master one or two for each task.

I use either one up to 50# mono/fluoro to 65# solid braid. 60# & above it's all hollow. I don't know about everyone else but I set my drags at 30% at strike. Maybe push it to 35%, that's a far cry from 95-98% knot strength. There are a lot of good knots that work.
